FORMAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A graduate of an accredited Orthopedic
Physician Assistant Program, completing a residency or fellowship.
At least 7 years experience as a Physicians Assistant and 7 years of clinical
experience in orthopedics. At least 3 years of experience teaching
in a Physicians Assistant orthopedic residency program.
LICENSE/REGISTRATION: License or certification from any US jurisdiction.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Sit on Medical Evaluation Boards on a recurring basis and serve as
liaison between the patient and the Medical Evaluations Boards Section.
Provide a full range of Orthopedic PA duties to include counseling,
review of medical records, treatment and follow-up in accordance with privileges
granted by the Commanding Officer, e.g., supervise and provide medical
care for conditions; includes any and all organ systems associated with
an Orthopedic practice; treat patients in accordance with protocols
supervised by orthopedist, counsel patients directly and indirectly as
indicated.
Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and
Therapeutics Committee. Order appropriate diagnostic tests as applicable.
Coordinate patient care through a continuum and facilitate the achievement
of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance
with all established policies, procedures and guidelines used in medical
treatment facility. Provide care within ethical and legal boundaries.
Serve and participate in committees, functions and other meetings as
directed. Provide relevant and timely information to these groups, and
assist with decision-making and process improvement. Participate in customer
service initiatives, and medical readiness activities designed to enhance
health services.
